French Market success!

What an unforgettable event! We are thrilled to share that the FANS French Market welcomed over 6,000 visitors to Killarney Heights—an incredible turnout that reflects the strength, spirit, and warmth of our community.

Over 300 volunteers, 40 VIP guests, 9 sponsors, 60 stall holders, and thousands of happy marketgoers all came out to enjoy the sunshine while supporting the 19th edition of the French Market.

The entire school came together with time, energy, donations, hard work, expertise, ideas, and enthusiasm to create the event of the year.

This year’s French Market delivered a fantastic result, raising a strong $70,000 profit.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, these funds will directly support our students through new learning resources, teacher development, and ongoing operating costs that keep our bilingual program thriving.

Thank you! Merci beaucoup!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks for helping make this year's French Market a great success. We can't wait for next year's special 20th anniversary edition!

If you have any questions, feedback, or would like to join the organising team in 2026, pleased send an email to frenchmarket@fanssydney.org

Warm regards,

The French Market Team

Thank you teachers & staff!

Thank you to our incredible teachers of French for their patience, flexibility and dedication to our students throughout the 2025 school year.

KHPS is a unique public school, enriched by the FANS bilingual program, which requires close coordination between the school and FANS teams. We are deeply grateful for everyone’s commitment and hard work across 2025 to ensure the ongoing success of the bilingual program.

Farewell to Mlle Lejeune, who has been teaching in Stage 1. We thank her for her dedication and care for her students, and we wish her all the very best in her next chapter.

Wishing a very happy summer holiday to our wonderful teachers, who make the magic happen in the classroom every day.

French Spelling Bee challenge

This term featured the French Spelling Bee competition. After practicing their word lists at home, finalists were selected from each class. Each class's top spellers competed in the grand final, where students had to successfully spell each increasingly difficult word to move on to the next round.

This year, we welcomed special guest students from Taren Point Primary to participate in the grand final. These partnerships with fellow AAFEBS schools strengthen ties between students and enrich our learning programs.

Congratulations to all of the students for their preparation and participation, and a special bravo to the finalists and the winners!

There were some tight battles, and we are very proud of everyone for their presentation skills and spelling accomplishments. The FANS teachers and staff jury members were very impressed by the students’ spelling level. It’s clear that they’ve been working hard in class and at home.

Bilingual Program Fees 2025

As a bilingual program within a public school, we are committed to maintaining an affordable quality bilingual program. FANS is a not-for-profit assocation and aims to make bilingualism accessible to all families. Our program fees are very competitive compared with independent and international schools.

The annual program fees of $1,670 for the Anglophone stream, and $4,195 for the Francophone stream, cover teacher salaries for the 2025 academic year.

With a unique 1:15 average teacher-student ratio in most classes, the FANS bilingual program offers great value as an investment in your children’s bilingual education.

Please carefully read the general terms and conditions of the bilingual program and of the Association.

Camberwell Primary School student exchange

This term, we were delighted to welcome 20 Year 6 students and three staff members from our sister school, Camberwell Primary School (CPS) in Victoria.

The students were warmly greeted by their KHPS pen pals, with whom they’ve been exchanging letters in French throughout the year. Some familiar faces were reunited too — our own students who visited CPS earlier this year as part of this ongoing exchange program!

Over three days, our visitors joined bilingual classes, visited the Tramore Shops, and took part in a stage assembly on Friday before saying “Au revoir!”.

A heartfelt thank you to the parents, teachers, and students who helped make this exchange possible. This wonderful experience allowed students to see bilingual education in action in another state and build lasting friendships with fellow French learners across Australia.

Until next year...

Happy Holidays and Joyeux Noël!
We wish you a happy and safe summer break.

Best regards,
The FANS team
